THE ANATOMY OF A SOLUTION FOCUSED SESSION: How to structure conversations that move clients toward change

Pre-Recorded for you to complete at your convenience

As Solution Focused Brief therapists, we are in essence attention shifters; shifting the attention in a session toward difference, change and resilience. Our clients come for therapy problem overwhelmed and our job is to turn the conversation from problems toward hopes and desired outcomes.

However, how do we do this? One of the most helpful things I have ever learnt as a Solution Focused Therapist is the 4-room analogy of Chris Iveson describing a Solution Focused Process. In this webinar I will be discussing the 4-rooms we walk through with our clients in every session. The best hopes room, the resource room, the preferred future room and the Solution Focused summary room emphasizes the important aspects of a Solution Focused conversation.

I use these 4-rooms in every session I have with a client, and I am always mindful of touching on all aspects in each session as it keeps me Solution Focused. In this webinar I will share interviews with Elliott Connie and Adam Froerer on the 4 -room process to illustrate what a Solution Focused conversation looks like, as well as the work of Mark McKergow and his book “The Next Generation of SF practice”. Knowing about the Solution Focused process is a huge game changer in our sessions as it gives us structure and keeps us aligned to the approach.
