GAMING AND TEENS

Live Webinar on 29 July.

“If every conversation with a teenager left them feeling more capable, more hopeful and more understood, what difference might that make—not only to their gaming, but to their future?”

This Webinar is aimed at helping therapists to understand problematic gaming through a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy lens, moving away from blame and pathology towards identifying strengths, resources and practical conversations that create positive change. Before we look at gaming in detail we need to understand this fundamental Solution Focused belief – Teenagers are not the problem.

In order to help teens game differently we need to understand that every behaviour serves a purpose. Therefore we will be looking at why gaming is so appealing to teenagers and the function gaming serves in a teenager’s life. Young people seek mastery, belonging and enjoyment and this makes gaming so attractive. We will be exploring “What gaming is doing for this young person?” instead of “Why won’t they stop gaming?”
